The William Collyn Community Centre in Girton is delighted to announce the launch of its brand-new Community Art Display Wall, a welcoming space designed to showcase creativity and celebrate local talent.

The first exhibition features work from the Pavilion Art Group, based in Cambridge. One of the group members is Ann Mitchell, who is a regular at our weekly yoga sessions. Their collection brings colour, vibrancy, and inspiration to the Centre’s corridor space, offering visitors a chance to enjoy art created within the heart of our community.

To celebrate the launch, a special event was held at the Centre on Monday 1st September. Members of the community, local artists, and supporters gathered to enjoy the unveiling of the display, with plenty of opportunity to meet the artists, discuss their work, and share in the sense of community spirit that the project has inspired. The event was well attended and reflected the enthusiasm for making the Centre a more welcoming and creative space.

Tom Lee, Manager of the William Collyn Community Centre, said:

“We wanted to create a space that truly reflects the creativity and community spirit of Girton. The Art Display Wall is a wonderful way of bringing people together, and it has already added so much warmth and vibrancy to the Centre.”

Local artist Denise Spalding added:

“It’s such a privilege to be the first group to exhibit here. We hope our work inspires others in the community to get creative, and we’re delighted to see our art become part of the Centre’s welcoming atmosphere.”

The Community Art Display Wall will host a rotating programme of exhibitions throughout the year, giving local artists and groups a platform to share their work with the wider community.

We warmly invite everyone to visit the Centre and view the current exhibition, stay for a coffee and a chat and if you find an exhibit you like you can purchase it (by contacting the artist directly)

The display is open to all during the Centre’s usual public opening hours of 9.00am – 2.00pm & 5.00pm – 9.00pm. We hope it will become a popular feature for both regular visitors and those discovering the Centre for the first time.

We welcome both individuals and community groups to share their creativity – get in touch to display your artwork on our new wall.
