On 30th March, the William Collyn Community Centre was declared officially open for business at an Open Day attended by 250 village residents who came along to see the new facilities.

Following the unveiling of a plaque to commemorate the occasion by Girton Town Charity Trustee Ray Gordon, there was a delicious afternoon tea for all, generously provided by Girton WI who enjoyed using the Centre’s new kitchen facilities.

In addition to the various ‘taster’ classes held throughout the day, visitors were entertained by the Girton Ukulele Band, Flukes, which played a selection of music.

Also attending was Kirsten Bennett from Cambridgeshire ACRE which will be running the Centre on a day-to-day basis.
