Well I have now been ensconced as the Centre Manager since the middle of April and now I have had a good chance to settle in and meet so many new people, I thought it would be a good time to update you as to what has been happening here!

Firstly, can I say thanks to the people of Girton who have all made me feel so welcome. I’m getting to know lots of names and faces and the village really has a great community feel. I was thrilled to get the opportunity of running this wonderful new facility and it’s a great environment to work in so to receive such a warm welcome too has been a real bonus. I also really enjoyed the Girton Feast Fete recently, what a great occasion.

So what has been happening here?

Regular classes are really starting to build up now as more and more people know we are here and what we have to offer. The month of August is traditionally quiet but on the 13th and 27th we have taster sessions for ballroom classes with a coffee morning. If the interest is there, this will be a regular fixture in the diary so please come and support if you can. Hop over to the Activities page for more information.

We are delighted to have the WI with us on the 7th August as they celebrate their 100th Birthday! I am sure there will be the odd popping of corks on this special day.

Club 55 will be holding their monthly film club on the 22nd August. They’re starting a little earlier this month as they preclude the film with a bowls match on the green. Again, I’ll update the Activities page with the film choice shortly and any additional information.

We also have our West Coast Swing classes every Tuesday evening and on Wednesdays the Citizens Advice Bureau run a drop-in clinic from 1pm to 4pm. On Thursdays the Relate counsellor is here – pre-booking is required.

All information on times and class content are on the Activities page, along with contact information for the group leaders. If you need any further information, then please do get in touch with me directly by phone or email. I’d also welcome any suggestions of activities that you would like to see at the Centre and I can pursue the viability of these.

Things really kick off in September with many more activities and regular classes so please keep an eye on these pages and our Facebook page for regular updates.

There is always room for more so if you are planning a children’s party, family get-together, business meeting or any other occasion, please get in touch to find out about availability. You are always welcome to pop in and have a look around the Centre when we are open so please feel free to do so!

Hope to see you soon!
